Hello, and welcome to my blog!
The idea behind “Chronicles of a Travel Addict,” I hope, is self-explanatory. I’ve volunteered, taught, explored, and lived in 42 countries throughout Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. I started out as budget backpacker and have grown to embrace more comfortable forms of travel over the last 15 years.
Some of my favorite endeavors: Discovering cultures, trying local vegan food, learning new languages, dancing, exploring chaotic cities, and getting lost in nature. Over the last few of years, I have dedicated myself to exploring true happiness, living deliberately, and doing my best not to damage Mother Earth.
I am a freelance/travel writer and photographer, working on my first travel memoir, and currently living in Bogota, Colombia.
My hope for this blog is primarily to share my personal travel narratives and to inspire everyone to follow their dream of travel. I will also reveal travel tips, as well as reviews of travel products, hotels, and restaurants. In addition, I will not shy away from politics, as each cultural fabric is woven by the decisions governments make. All in all, this is my way of sharing my honest view of the world with you.
Thanks for stopping by, and happy travels!
I didn’t want to riddle Transitionelle’s blog with off-topic replies, so I followed over to yours! I broke my ankle in early August, so I’m not too far ahead of you as far as healing time has gone. I’m still doing a lot of strength and flexibility exercises at home. Overall it’s still improving, and I only wear a lightweight ankle brace if I plan on walking about town(which is situated over some very steep hills). I think the worst part is that I live in Eastern Washington where it’s constantly been below freezing the past month. The cold can really make it painful and stiff. How is your ankle progressing?
On a more exciting note, I really enjoy your blog! I absolutely love reading travel blogs! Most of my travelling has been throughout the states, generally the Western states but I plan on expanding that in the near future. 🙂

The healing process is long and drawn out, isn’t it?! I can only imagine how painful it would be living in Washington- cold nights here are about 40 degrees farenheit and it’s amazing how much more it hurts. I’ve been going to physical therapy and also doing exercises at the gym, so it’s a whole lot better. I’m finally able to walk down stairs and downhill with less difficulty. The thing that bothers me the most is not being able to dance. At least I had gone dancing the day before I broke it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog; I always love to hear encouraging comments! I need to visit more of the states here in the US, but traveling to foreign countries has been one of THE best things that I’ve decided to do. Much recommended!
I like your blog as well! I totally dig what you said about stalking your favorite authors, hoping their genius rubs off on you. Hunter S. Thompson used to retype Hemingway novels on his typewriter to see what it felt like to write with that kind of rhythm. Good luck on your publishing endeavors; I know it’s daunting!

I like your writing style and your spirit. I too am figuring out how to support myself financially through travel and writing so that I can travel and write some more. Your story reminds me of my passion for travel (after all I’m not dead yet!) and I too hope to meet the love of my life and travel the world together (o.k. maybe too much information).

Thank you so much, and sorry for not writing back sooner. Your words are so kind and encouraging! It is super difficult to find a steady means of income while traveling; how are you fairing? There really is no limit to the joy we can possibly experience on this earth in the form of travel. What does your bucket list look like? And yes, I think meeting someone you love to travel the world with is the best possible combination ever invented! 😀

What part of Mexico? That is great! I miss Mexico so much! I was hoping to get down there sometime this spring, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen so soon. I just moved to Portland, Oregon from the Bay Area, California last month. Have you ever been? There is so much to see up here once the weather gets warmer! 😀

Appreciate your going through my photographs and your kind words Cristina. I live in Seattle (and love it 🙂
As for the featuring part, send me more details. I used to love writing more on my posts but over time, the word counts have gone down to a point where I let my photos speak for themselves (sounds better than saying I’m being lazy, doesn’t it ? 😉

You’re very welcome, Abu! You live very close to me- I’m in Portland currently. I’d like to take a short road trip out to Seattle sometime this spring. I can’t believe I’m just 3 hours away from such a beautiful city (not that it’s too bad here, either 😉 ).
What is your email? I’ll send you more info if you’re still interested in a guest post. No worries on the word count- we have to stick to our passions. I wouldn’t call it laziness at all! 😀

never really got to spend much time in the city Portland itself though. usually transited through on I-5 while going south or coming back. there was a rose garden whose name I can’t recall that I went with some friends (apparently at the wrong time of the year – i believe at thanksgiving). One of the things that I do remember is the mobile food carts along the street which we had enjoyed some food from 🙂

Hi Kayleigh,
Thanks so much for nominating me; I’m honored! I participated in the Liebster Blogger Awards sometime last year or the year before.
Do you have a link to the post you wrote about it? I couldn’t find it on your site (which I love, btw!). Congratulations on being able to see all seven continents. Are you still in Seattle?
